Hi Rotary friends

Well September has been a whirlwind of a month for me - I have been busy doing the DG visits and NYSF Orientation day.  Lots going on.

Unfortunately on 13 September my darling Mum passed away.  My Mum has had Dementia for many years but even so, it was really hard for me and I miss her so much.

This episode stopped me from going to Christchurch to the Zone 8 Conference.  I am now back and working hard again; catching up on what I call ‘desk Rotary work' ...

In early September you would have received your personal copy of the District Directory.  I know you cannot download it but you can have a short cut to it on your browser or on your Ipad or phone.  It is easy to search for something / someone and I love the thumbnails.

I am very happy with the way it looks and how we can read it like the paper - that’s technology for you.  I also have some hard copies (three for each club).  Your Assistant Governor will be giving them to you soon.

While undertaking the DG visits it never fails to surprise me at how well we are all doing.  I know that we are all autonomous but we are all going in the same direction.  From the smallest regional clubs to the largest clubs in the city.

Please all keep up the wonderful Rotary DoGoodery work and if you are at Semaphore tomorrow celebrating the birthday of the Carousel, I will see you there.

Speak soon
Jane

Donations in Kind Working Bee - 19 October 2019,  9:30am to Midday

Rotarians and friends from all clubs in Districts 9500 and 9520 are invited to the Rotary Australia Worldwide Community Service (RAWCS) Central Region / Donations in Kind (DIK) Working Bee,  starting at 9:30am, at the DIK facility at Edinburgh on Saturday 19 October 2019, culminating in a barbecue at midday.

Your assistance on the day will greatly help the running of DIK, one of RAWCS' most dynamic but unsung programs, and will substantially complement the steadfast efforts of the DIK committee, regular volunteers and clubs that have had working bees at DIK in the past.

This is a special opportunity for Rotarians and friends to enjoy good fellowship and have fun while working for a common cause.  A program of priority tasks has been scheduled, enabling you and your club to get hands-on international service locally.

NOTE: Turn left at the 1st roundabout on Taranaki Rd and follow the signs.

FUNDING ASSISTANCE SOUGHT FOR HEALTH CLINIC IN MBALE, UGANDA

The Rotary Clubs of Seaford (D9520) and Mbale Uganda, D9211, are seeking assistance to develop a health clinic on land central to the communities of  Lukhonje, Bukiende, Bumasikye and Sibanga which have no nearby healthcare facilities.

The nearest government or private health care facility is 10 to 15Km away. It is especially dangerous to try to reach these facilities after dark with poor transport options. Local public services are inadequate with four women recently dying in child birth and it is reported that every month a community loses 4 to 5 people due to various illnesses.  Read more ...
