David's Deliberations
It's End Polio month and on Wednesday 24 October (World Polio Day) PDG District 9520 Dr Dick Wilson OAM and I joined forces to create awareness through an interview with Sonya Feldhoff on ABC Radio Adelaide. Dick explained the medical aspects and I explained Rotary’s achievements and how clubs world-wide are seeking support to rid the world of this insidious disease.
Sonya Feldoff was astounded to learn that if we stopped immunising today, the current 20 cases a year of wild polio (plus 20 vaccine related cases in New Guinea) would quickly turn into 200,000 a year within 10 years. Webmaster Graham Fussen will have a link to what we said on the website on Monday.
In the meantime, check out the lead article in this issue and the film options for next weekend – it’s a great movie but only 96 people from the two districts have registered at the Regal Cinema, which can take 500. Please register and bring some friends with you to have fun and End Polio.
Also check out the last article for an opportunity for more fun to help End Polio  - Port Lincoln Rotarians are planning a fun seafood fellowship lunch for visiting cruisers.
Join in, have fun and Be the Inspiration!

Your Editor,
End Polio Film - check out the different locations and times...

You will absolutely love this film.

Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration
of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury, who defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound, their near-implosion as Mercury’s lifestyle spirals out of control, and their triumphant reunion on the eve of Live Aid.  While bravely facing a recent AIDS diagnosis, Freddie leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. Queen cements a legacy that continues to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day.
The movie will be showing on:
Ticket price include refreshments at each venue.  Come along and enjoy.

Rediscover South Australia in Comfort and Help Raise  Funds for Polio
Supporters of Rotary, Cruise & Maritime Voyages and Phil Hoffmann Travel, have offered Rotarians a discounted opportunity to Cruise on the 560 passenger ship the Astor and rediscover South Australia in comfort with part proceeds going to District 9500’s Polio Eradication Fund.
This is a great opportunity to relax and experience summer in comfort and in the company of like-minded Rotarians whilst you enjoy some sensational entertainment and the beauty of some of our State’s coastal areas.
DG David recommends this opportunity as he is sure it will be fun and it will help Rotary raise money for our Polio Eradication program. For this to occur book through Phil Hoffmann Travel and at the time of booking mention it is the Rotary Cruise...Click on the link for more information and how to book.
More details of the Cruise on the Cruise & Maritime Voyages website can be found here
