The last few weeks we all have very sad and heavy hearts and I know that your prayers and thoughts are with the Dallow family.

No doubt you have followed the various media stories of the tragic events on White Island New Zealand. Assistant Governor Gavin Dallow was confirmed dead and his step-daughter Zoe, has been confirmed dead, being one of the last 6 brought back from the Island. Membership Chair Lisa Dallow was in the Special Burns unit in Hamilton Hospital New Zealand with 57% burns to her body, has now been transported to The Alfred Hospital's Special Burns Unit in Melbourne.

Rotary International District 9500 is in contact with the Dallow family and are supporting them the best we can. Rotarians and Friends have indicated they would like to assist in supporting the Dallow Family and we have setup a special appeal through a My Booking Manager link: http://e.mybookingmanager.com/E121218284830562

President Julie, Rotary Club of Prospect has provided some additional information on Gavin.
Gavin joined our club on 10 December 2008, after being a member of Narracorte Club D9780 for approximately 18 months and before that Berri Club from September 1996. Gavin also was a Rotaractor from February 1989 to the time joining Berri.

Gavin has provided 30 years of service to Rotary and the community. He was always a kind, caring, warm, friendly, giving man and truly a man of service above self who loved his Rotary, Rotary Club, family and friends.

We will miss him telling us about his great love with his tennis involvement, his love of the Crows (footy) and the love of his family.  He was a dearly loved member of our club holding many different positions over his time without club including President in 2011-12.  Gavin was President of our club 2011-12 and was a Paul Harris Fellow with 2 Sapphires.

This is a tragic situation for the club and a big loss for Rotary and the community. It was an honour to have him as a member and we will miss him. We thank everyone for their kind support to our club at this difficult time and we send out condolences and love to his family and friends as this sad time, Julie.

I will email out an update after Christmas to the funeral arrangements expected in January.

Please look after yourself during the Christmas & New Year break,
